HOW BAD IS FAST FOOD FOR OUR HEALTH?

Morgan Spurlock stared his documentary Supersize me

It feels like it was just yesterday, but I watched the documentary Super Size Me when I first started working as an English teacher. I used it in class, and my students were shocked. I believe the topic is still relevant today. Do we realize how bad fast food is for our health? Are we entirely responsible for our health, or can we blame others?

Here, I’m sharing the material I prepared for my 4th ESO students (15-16 years old) from the intensive course. We only worked with the trailer (around 5 minutes) for listening comprehension. I also prepared a list of arguments for them to classify into categories, and then into those in favor of or against the two questions I presented for writing an opinion essay.

13th SEPTEMBER : ROALD DAHL DAY

Roald Dahl

Today, we celebrate the birth of one of the most famous children's storytellers in the English language. He left behind timeless stories that we have read and that have been adapted for the big screen. Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Danny, the Champion of the World are just a few examples of how his tales help children teach adults to see the world with fresh eyes, often leading to unexpected endings. In addition to his stories, he also wrote poetry. In Revolting Rhymes, he retold six classic fairy tales: Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Little Red Riding Hood, and The Three Little Pigs.

Here is a resource to celebrate his birthday.

CELEBRATION AND AWARENESS DAYS TO WORK ON AT SCHOOL

https://creazilla.com/

If you're a teacher, you’ve either just started the new school year or are about to begin. As an English teacher at a middle-high school in Spain, I enjoy planning special days to celebrate with my students. I believe that having a calendar with celebration and awareness days is a great way to keep those events in mind and integrate them meaningfully into the rest of your syllabus.

Here is a link to a free resource with the celebration and awareness days I plan to work on with my students during the first term.

I hope you find it useful.
