Reading authentic material

Engaging students in reading can be challenging, especially if they don't enjoy reading in their native language. This challenge intensifies when introducing reading in a foreign language, as enjoyment and comprehension may be limited during the learning phase. However, as English teachers, it's essential to persist, as reading can be a  milestone in a student's language acquisition journey. Engaging with authentic materials, such as complete books, can significantly improve your English level.
"The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins is a novel that many students have enjoyed both reading and watching. The characters resonate with them, and the themes—such as injustice, love, family, loyalty, social class disparities, and moral dilemmas—are universal.
Here is a free resource for the first chapter of this world-wide acclaimed novel. I hope you and your students find it engaging and beneficial.
